VINTAGE ROLEX THUNDERBIRD DATEJUST 1625 

The Rolex "Thunderbird" Datejust is an intriguing timepiece. Developed as a pilot's watch yet presented with traditional Datejust features such as a dial topped with a date display and a 36mm case diameter, the Thunderbird is not quite a sports reference yet not exclusively a dress watch either. When it came to market in 1953, the "Turn-o-Graph" as it is also referred to as was the first Rolex timepiece to offer a rotating bezel, making it the brand's first official tool watch. This vintage example features a gold bezel with raised 5-minute graduations, a steel and gold Jubilee bracelet and case, and a handsome silver Pie Pan dial set with yellow gold indices and hands with creamy patina lume.
